Data exchange
turimbi scientific data exchange is the face of the turimbi strip reader. It allows to create, use and share data. To start strip reading, you need to create your MyMethod, first. Go to the Method Store, select the method you want to use, give it a name and add it to your methods. Now you find this method under MyMethods and can immediately start collecting data. You may invite others to build a group and share your MyMethod. To do this, go to MyMethods, select the method you want to share and then “details”. Now you can invite other registered users by simply using their e-mail. Your method will be added to your friends MyMethod. You share the same method and the same data pool.
There are two types of groups for different purposes. In an open group, all participants see all results; this is the ideal setting for a community that collects data and wants to easily share. In a managed group every user can see his own data but only managers can see all data. In industrial setting the latter may sometimes be the more suitable choice. Managed groups will be part of a future release.
Although scientific data exchange was originally developed as the front end for the turimbi strip reader, the design allows to easily add other data. Future projects may include the connection of laboratory photometers but also electronic and optic sensors. Another very useful feature will be a mobile phone driven sample collection and identification system.
QC of laboratory data is a very important topic that reaches far beyond accredited labs. Interest provided, we plan to enrich “MyMethods” with the option to add the requirement for regular control measurement, QC lockout and user lockout. Shewart Charts may help to easily detect out-of-control situations, for example in production. Messenger warnings on certain events will also become part of the system.
