Smartphone holder
You may easily turn a smartphone into a reliable strip reader. There are no requirements on resolution or performance, most outdated smartphones will be completely sufficient in this application. But taking images of test strips by hand is not always convenient. It is a much nicer experience to make standardized images using a simple holder. Just place the camera on something, that is 10-20 cm high. You may use general household staff like a milk box or a cup. Place the self-printed background beneath it, enable flash and start strip reading. Make sure, that the full length of the strip is on the image. Your strip reader is ready!
If you want to add some light and wind protection, then have a look at the design of the almost disposable strip reader.
It is made from cardboard and protects the viewing area of the test strip from three sides. Simply place a smart phone on the box and the strip beneath the camera of the smart phone. Then take an image with flash. The strip is well protected against wind and ambient light.
